What Would You Do If You Only Had One Year Left?
Hello Faith2Fitt tribe!
I pray this email finds you well during this difficult time. I'm sorry I have been MIA. There's been a lot of transition due to COVID-19 and I have had to adjust - like all of you, I'm sure!
I come to you today with a though provoking question and I hope it helps you put life in perspective right now. I've had my own moments of fear, courage, and positivity (all in the same hour sometimes!), but I'm remaining hopeful and taking it day-by-day. I hope you are too :)
I've been reading Matthew Kelly's book, The Rhythm of Life: Living Everyday with Passion & Purpose (and I just finished it!). Friends, it is a great read. I highly recommend it. It is very inspiring.
Anywayyyyy, at the end of the book he poses the question, "If you knew you were going to die one year from today, what would you do with the next year of your life?"
This question really made me think. And it was one I decided to journal about. I also asked my husband to ponder it, so we could each share each others answers. I really took the time to meditate on this question; and, honestly, after making a list in my journal (which I'll share soon!), I woke up today a new person. I woke up a new woman with a mission to live my best life. RIGHT NOW. Not until I earn so much, not until I save so much, not until I've paid off debt. Now. And it's an amazing feeling. I hope I don't lose this fire inside me, because it feels so peaceful and joyful.
Here are some of the things I wrote down:
Spend more time with my children, my husband, and those I love (stop rushing to do the next thing and focus on them)
I wouldn't stress about my body, food, and exercise
Eat more ice cream and foods I love!
I would move my body how and when I wanted and make sure I had more fun doing it
I wouldn't stress about what other people think of me, what other people have, or what I don't have
I wouldn't stress about my house being nicely decorated or how I don't have a "new" car
I would find a way to spend more time near the water and in nature, and doing things that bring me joy and peace
Less work, more time for life
Take my mom to Paris
Take my mom to Israel to the Holy Land
Go on a mission trip
Hike Pico Mountain in the island of Pico, Azores
Take salsa dance lessons with my husband
Let go more and just be myself!
There's more, but I won't bore you! Haha.
So, I ask you. What would you do if you knew you were going to die one year from today? I challenge you to really think about this question and to answer it in your journal, your notes in your phone, or even a post-it note! And then I challenge you to start living those dreams. Dreams don't always have to be grandiose or be extravagant. I realized my dream is to live a simpler life. To stop striving for what the world says I should have, do, or be; and to just be a better person.
Make plans to do what makes you happy and at peace. Make a list. Set the intentions. And start living your best life. Now.
Peace,
Sandra

Romans 12:2 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
Romans 8:6 New International Version (NIV)
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
